LO3: Treatment

Programme & Content

Full Moon Radio is a late-night radio show which targets a 25-50, ABC1, male/female target demographic through content which features old-school (70's-90's) music, like Squeeze, to appeal to audience nostalgia. Further content includes radio dramas with mature themes and language intended for the mature target audience, accredited to a post-watershed airing time. Additional content includes guest interviews and listener call-ins to promote audience interaction and further discussions regarding topics of fiction. Examples include interviews with a novel author, where discussions can follow with audience call-ins related to the topic (e.g. favourite books, dramas, audiobooks). There will also be an advert/sponsor break for a chain, fast-food restaurant available on motor-way services to target audiences driving late at night as they listen to the radio. Additionally, before the rest of the content of the programme follows, a short, 10 second, news bulletin will play to inform audiences of recent, relevant news events (e.g. traffic hazards).

Scheduling, Running Order & Launch

The scheduling of the programme is to air post-watershed to avoid any discrepancies with Ofcom in airing content with mature or inappropriate themes to an unintended, younger audience. The content aired, for the first rendition of the programme as a 10-30 minute sample, is scheduled to go as follows.
  1. INT. Song (fading out)
  2. Station Jingle
  3. Introduction
  4. News Bulletin
  5. Radio drama Introduction and jingle
  6. Radio Drama
  7. Sponsor/Advertisement
  8. Introduction to and interview
  9. Listener call-in (winner of a competition related to the interview)
  10. EXT. Song
The launch of the programme is to take place during the Summer of 2025 to capitalize audiences going out on late nights, and returning home.

Personnel, HR  & Equipment

Personnel involved in the project would need to include:
  • Producer to develop the programmes
  • Presenter to host
  • Sound editors to control the sound effects, jingles, caller volumes, fade-ins and outs for music
  • News Bulletin Host
  • Actors for radio drama
Considering health and safety during broadcasts, assessing risks such as loose wires could lead to tripping and minor injury, or potentially damaging equipment therefore, risk assessments would be carried out before recordings and broadcasts to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

Necessary equipment would require standard recording material (microphones) and headphones for sound editing, as well as a connected phone line to connect callers to the station.
